Based in Central Jutland

Tom Frank Christensen IT & technology leader

When people, software and operations need to move in the same direction, a business needs a leader who takes responsibility from the initial need to a solution in daily use. Over nearly 30 years in software and leadership, I have built Modified Solutions into a company with up to 16 employees and brought the avecdo SaaS product to around 1,500 webshops. I am now looking for a permanent leadership role where that experience can help a team and its solutions develop over time.

Profile

Technology leadership with people close at hand

Technology leadership has to consider the people, the customer and the system that must keep working afterwards. Many years as a business owner responsible for people, customers and technical delivery bring a practical approach to understanding business needs, setting direction and giving specialists room to take technical ownership. In an employed leadership role, that experience should work alongside the leadership team and the wider team, not instead of them.

  • Recommendations from colleagues describe freedom with responsibility, available leadership and clear guidance.
  • Based between Viborg and Skive, focusing on relevant leadership roles in Central Jutland and hybrid setups.
  • Average tenure at Modified Solutions was four to five years, with several colleagues staying considerably longer.

Value

How I can create value

Turning a need into a working solution requires business expectations, team capacity and operational responsibility to fit together. That has been a recurring part of my work with customer delivery, product and people leadership. These are the three areas where that experience may be useful to a new organisation.

People leadership

Trust, ownership and close support, so the team knows what needs to succeed and gets a decision when one is needed.

Technology and delivery

A strong technical grasp of architecture, backend systems, databases and operations, used to lead specialists and prioritise development, integrations and reliable services around business needs.

Business and customers

Customer workflows turned into digital services, including mobile field service and automated order flows, with ownership of requirements, delivery expectations and the link between investment and value.

Leadership profile

I lead people, not resources

I believe in freedom with responsibility, clear sparring and leadership where there is a short path from employee to decision.

When something goes wrong, I take responsibility for the team, the customer and the solution, so developers can focus on their work.

Cases

Selected cases

Three examples show different parts of the work: a SaaS product in daily operation, a service process moved from paper to mobile and an order flow across several systems. Each case explains the task, my role and the outcome we can substantiate.

Product / company

Building avecdo from idea to daily operation

I built avecdo as a SaaS product for webshops and their product data, with responsibility spanning product development and operations. It reached approximately 3,000 users and 1,500 webshops, processing around 15 million products daily. Day-to-day operations have since been handed over to a Product Owner and a developer.

Customer case

From paperwork to a mobile service workflow

A customer in international field service relied on paper processes. I managed the customer relationship, clarified requirements and led development of a mobile solution. The resulting workflow transferred information automatically into the customer's system, with decisions agreed closely with their responsible managers.

Order flow and integrations in e-commerce

An online plant retailer needed its order flow to hang together across the webshop, the company's finance system and its suppliers. I worked on automating that flow and the integrations between the systems.

Selected quotes from recommendations that describe how I lead.

“As a leader, Tom gives a great deal of freedom with responsibility. He trusts that people can take responsibility for their own work, come up with ideas and suggestions, and find solutions.”
